The United Medical Wellness Complex (UMWC) Foundation is a nonprofit, school-based specialty wellness
initiative delivering integrated neurology, cardiology, and mental-health services to adolescents in grades 7-12 across Hinds County. Our mission is to increase early disease detection, expand access to specialty medical care, and improve academic and developmental outcomes through preventive and diagnostic healthcare services delivered directly in schools and through mobile and tele-wellness platforms.

Mississippi youth face disproportionate rates of neurological disorders, cardiovascular disease risk, and mental
health challenges. Many students lack consistent access to medical evaluation and specialty care, resulting in
delayed diagnosis and preventable complications. The UMWC Foundation bridges this gap by embedding specialty
health services into the school community, increasing accessibility while reducing barriers related to transportation,
socioeconomic status, and healthcare shortages.

A significant number of students in grades 7–12 in Hinds County, Mississippi lack access to timely, preventive, and culturally responsive healthcare due to systemic barriers including poverty, underinsurance, provider shortages, and racial inequities — resulting in preventable emergency visits, missed school days, and undiagnosed chronic conditions.
The UMWC Foundation seeks to establish a universal medical clinic that provides accessible, culturally
competent, and comprehensive healthcare to underserved communities, with a focus on African American, Native American, and Hispanic & Latino populations. The UMWC will address critical health disparities including neurological disorders, cardiovascular disease, mental health challenges, diabetes, and limited access to care with the intent of providing early detection in these traditionally underserved youth populations.
